Exclusive: The team behind THE STYLIST begins photography on new thriller BLACK MOLD

Chainsaw Award Producers, Nominees The Stylist are back with their new upcoming movie, black mold. Jill Gevargizian (The Stylist) is a co-producer on this one, with John Pata in the black mold director’s chair. This tight-knit group of filmmakers have been working together for almost a decade, and according to Gevargizian, much of the crew here has been the same for The Stylistincluding director of photography, production designer, costume designer, composer, etc.

black mold follows an auspicious photographer as she explores a dilapidated, abandoned facility and confronts her traumatic past. The cast includes Agnes Albright (real detective, Chateau), Andrew Bailes (No resolution), Caito Aase (coming soon) Developer) and Jeremy Holm (Card castle, Mister Robot, the forest ranger). Since yesterday, black mold officially began filming “in a historic small town in Illinois”.

Writer-director John Pata says:black mold encompasses many of my own photographic experiences, as well as my journey with mental health and the continued acceptance of losing my father at a young age. The film explores the dangers that can arise at the intersection of artistic pursuits and internal sabotage. On her role as co-producer, Gevargizian cites Pata as a great inspiration: “John was a huge inspiration to me when I started directing. It’s a pleasure to do whatever I can to help him get back into the director’s chair.

Pata also co-wrote and directed the Rondo-nominated and award-winning post-apocalyptic romance/survival horror story. Dead weight. His short film Pity, exploded onto the film festival scene and he has since edited the short and feature versions of The Stylistreleased by Arrow Video last year.

black mold is produced by Shatterglass Films, Sixx Tape, Claw Productions, Kernel Productions, along with Head Trauma Productions and The Line Film Company. Follow the journey, behind the scenes with the cast and crew, on the film’s social media pages: Twitter, IG, Facebook and TikTok.
